Election 2008

When I signed off blogging on 9/5/08 never did I realize how busy I would be the last sixty days and especially the last 9 days as the campaign called upon our grass root volunteers to give it all we had. The week-end of 10/24/08 I prepared four lasting meals for Fred and Marye, drove to Nampa to give "Dad" his monthly shot and kissed Joe good-bye since he wouldn't be seeing much of me. I put in over 100 hours volunteering in addition to my regular job and loved every moment of it. I took yesterday and today off from work, to Poll Watch. It was fascinating watching 50 year old men who have never voted exercise their right to vote, it was also refreshing watching the youth come out in droves and vote for their candidate whomever it might be. Today I am off catching up on house work, laundry, cooking, and resting in general. I started my morning with prayers for our newly elected, that God would give them strength in the guidance of our country in the years to come.

Enough of the campaign. We celebrated Fred's birthday in September and Jimmie's in October. Uncle Bobby had a successful surgery and is recovering at home. Mom, Stomie and Megan drove to Portland to see him. Hopefully he will be able to make his annual trip to Idaho in the Spring.

Early September we lost our water at the cabin, we are not sure if it is the pump but since we were so close to closing and had other items pulling at our time, we closed the cabin early and will deal with it in the Spring. I did miss the fall colors of the Aspens in McCall but Boise has had a Bevy of colors!

James and Elise took a road trip to Portland to help a friend move and were able to spend a few days there for R&R..

In October Joe travelled to Boston to watch Mac speak at the grand opening of the Women's Resource Center that she has worked on since her Freshman year. Yea! Graduation 5/17/09.

Two other large events in the past two months was the Cook Off in the Hood, originally scheduled to be held in McCall (three couples, two cooking and one judging) but was held here in "The Hood" I have attached a copy of my dinner menu, plus we also had to do one breakfast. I prepared homemade hollandaise sauce with Eggs Benedict accompanied with Fresh Fruit. We had a ton of fun that week-end! I won 5 out of six of the contests. We had prizes and all. Joe made his famous Clam Chowder for the BSU game......sure I gained five pounds that week-end.

Joe's friend from college(and now mine) Bjorn and Ellen came to visit from Oslo Norway. We had so much fun visiting with them, preparing them American Food, sight seeing and Joe and Ellen of course got in some shopping. They have invited us to Norway and I can hardly wait.....won't be soon we have one more semester of payment for school and graduation. Priorities!

Halloween came and went, but didn't even miss it since I wasn't home! Megan and Suzie came to visit though and Joe took some pictures of the little princesses! Bailee was a Red Lobster. Thanks for all the other updates of the other nieces and nephews in their costumes. I have been into pie baking since the neighborhood keeps providing me with apples, have put up some marinara sauce from the tomatoes and basil, and Megan, Susan and I picked all the concord grapes and prepared them into juice and Nana made jam for them to give to their teachers this Christmas.

I cannot believe what an Indian Summer we are having...tomorrow back to work on my Bicycle, Life is Good! Hope all is well with you all.

Deb
